The name "Chadmoore" originated from the streets of Chadwick and Moore in South Philadelphia. This is where Peter "Tony" Cona started a drycleaning and tailoring shop and started renting tuxedos. Frank Cona, his son, would drive around town delivering and picking them up.
In 1964, after Frank graduated from Villanova University, he moved the business and opened Chadmoore Formal Wear at 2138 S. Broad Street. Through the years Chadmoore Formal Wear earned a reputation of being a great place to rent a tuxedo for any formal occasion. Business grew and Frank purchased 2140 S Broad and doubled their property. Wendy, Frank's Daughter, started working on Broad Street at this time. Wendy and Frank shared an eye for style and fashion. Together they made purchases for the business that would aid in their continued success over the years.
In 2003, Chadmoore expanded into South Jersey where we've been serving the Washington Township area for over 21 years. This location was started by Nick Graziano, Wendy's husband, and has been running under Wendy's management since 2006. Frank and Wendy decided to close the Broad Street location in 2006, which allowed them to focus on expanding their business in Washington Township and Frank was able to enjoy his retirement years.
We are proud to say that Chadmoore Formal Wear has been family owned and operated for over 60 years. Sadly, Frank passed away in March of 2024. Wendy and family intend to continue to serve the Washington Township area for many years to come to honor her father's memory.
